The First BLOG!

It has almost been 6 months now in Nyenrode, lots of things have happened and over the last few weeks I have started to wonder how fast the time has flown. It is amazing that I have almost spent half a year and it still feels like I just came here recently. It has been a great experience so far. I have made new friends; new connections came across many new things, worked on some interesting projects, invoked deep interest in social media and lot more. I am truly happy that I was lucky to have had this opportunity, to be here!

I have been debating with myself on writing a blog for a long time. I wanted to see a value of something to start this but the thought of just trying out and getting involved to see a value is the approach I am more inclined to now. I opened twitter and foursquare account without seeing a value but on an agenda to experiment, and I now see a value there! So in the spirit of this, I have finally starting to write this blog. I would like to, through this window of dialogue, share some of my events and experiences and my reflections on it. I really hope that I and you in this journey, enjoy all the way!

So before I start I believe that it is important to introduce myself. So I will take a little space to tell about me, my family, my education and my work.

I am Uday Shankar AB, born and brought up in Bangalore, India. All my schooling and education was in Bangalore, India except for the current MBA in Netherlands. I graduated from Dr.Ambedkar Institute of Technology in the Telecommunications and Electronics stream in Bachelor in Engineering. Later to this I was campus recruited for a company called MindTree, based primarily of Bangalore, where I started working from 1st July 2005. I was working there till the end of August 2010 later to which I went on sabbatical leave for adding more to my knowledge, for doing my MBA in the Nyenrode Business University, in Netherlands.

More about my work profile is available at http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=23327640. So I won't spend much time here on this. I have truly enjoyed my 5+ years in MindTree. Thanks to the company and the leads, managers, peers and the customers I have worked with, I couldn't have asked for more!

On personal front, at home, I live in a happy and joyful, nuclear family with my dad, mom, brother, sister-in-law, nephew and niece in Bangalore, India.

My mom is a house maker who has been a great force for my success at studies. A typical emotional, protective, South Indian mom, who though could study only till 4th grade ensured that her son gets the best of education we could afford. She now spends most of her time in religious prayers, singing, walking and being at temple.

My father is a retiree from BEML India, who worked there for his entire lifetime and who is a great source of motivation for me. His is truly an inspirational story for me, the hardships he has gone through, moving from a village to a city, managing his family, getting his siblings married, doing multiple jobs day and night for earning money is something that makes me feel I am so blessed to have him around. I am also amazed by his determination, discipline, humility which makes him one of my role models. He currently spends most of his time actively managing a temple trust apart from running a small financial business along with his partners.

My brother currently works in a Belgium based MNC, working in Bangalore, India. He has travelled almost to every part of the world, countries such as Korea, China, Singapore, Russia, USA, Africa, Turkey and many more that I can't remember now. He is a hard worker always with a thought of building something big, currently constructing a building for running a metal fabrication factory along with his partner. He has been a true big brother for me all these years supporting me through all my phases of life.

My sister-in-law is as supportive as my brother and is currently the one who ensures that the home making business runs as smooth as possible, of course along with my mom. Last but not the least, my nephew and niece are the adorable ones who are a treat to spend time with. My nephew is in class 5 and my niece is in class 2.

So that's about me. Now that I have an identity in front of you, I am ready to go! But before I start, please do note that any views expressed here are purely and solely my views, opinions, perceptions based on the events I have seen, my interactions and things I have heard. I may be wrong in many cases so feel free to let me know, talk to me, and let us interact with each other in this journey. The world is more social now than it was ever before, people across boundaries irrespective of the caste and creed, color and origin are in dialogue exchanging thoughts and ideas, and I am sure we could do that as well.
